About the role
- Senior Cloud Engineer focused on developing and operating cloud infrastructure for Manulife's Canadian segment. Collaborating with teams to enhance AI-assisted tooling and cloud engineering delivery.
Responsibilities
- design the AKS cluster model for the Canadian segment
- implement improvements to existing infrastructure with zero disruption to business operations
- build an integrated end‑to‑end experience for application development teams
- automate cluster maintenance tasks, operational workflows, and routine processes
- continuously find opportunities to reduce manual effort, improve reliability, and enhance deployment efficiency
- ensure compliance with enterprise risk and security standards
- monitor and maintain the health, performance, scalability, and security of AKS clusters
- partner with application development teams to ensure shared cluster model meets needs
- maintain positive relationships with business partners and shared technology teams
Requirements
- 6–10 years of experience in cloud computing (Azure strongly preferred)
- expertise in automation and Infrastructure‑as‑Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM, etc.)
- experience using AI‑assisted engineering tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Azure OpenAI, or similar)
- experience operating or supporting shared platform services such as shared Kubernetes clusters
- strong understanding of networking and security concepts
- experience with Identity and Access Management (Azure AD, RBAC)
- proficiency with cloud networking infrastructure and distributed system patterns
- hands‑on experience with API gateways and cloud‑based architectures
- strong system administration background
- scripting/programming proficiency (PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc.)
- experience with containers and Kubernetes (AKS experience is an asset)
