Lawyer supporting the Commercial Cards business within the Banking Products Legal team. Providing legal advice on product development and regulatory frameworks.
Responsibilities
Provide legal support for product development and innovation, legal and regulatory change projects, rectifications and remediations, industry change initiatives, customer on-boarding and customer journeys (including via digital channels)
Advise on the applicable legal and regulatory framework, including the Consumer Credit Act (where relevant), Payment Services Regulations, the Consumer Duty and related regulatory requirements
Advise on terms and conditions for products, including amendments to existing terms and drafting new terms
Support business partners in negotiating bespoke customer arrangements
Advise business partners on third party arrangements relating to the provision of products, including working with other Legal & Secretariat teams as appropriate
Proactively identify, report and support the management of legal and governance risks, recommending solutions when needed
Manage panel law firms and build and maintain positive relationships with external lawyers
Collaborate with team members and work cross-functionally to help deliver business strategy
Support legal, regulatory and change projects across BCB & CIB Legal and the wider Legal & Secretariat Community (e.g. CCA Reform)
Reflect on legal service delivery and look for continuous improvement opportunities; and
Stay on top of regulatory, industry and legal change.
Requirements
Qualified as a solicitor in the UK (or equivalent qualification) with at least 4 years PQE
A good understanding of the legal and regulatory framework applicable to commercial cards and payments, ideally with experience of payment services and consumer credit regulation
An ability to build strong, collaborative relationships
Confidence in using experience and insights to influence, inform and challenge
Any in-house legal experience within a financial institution, including instructing external lawyers, would be really useful.
