Responsibilities
Mentor and support junior team members
Act as the main point of contact for technical accounting queries
Hold regular team catch-ups to monitor progress and gather feedback
Complete management accounts and VAT returns for own client portfolio
Review financial statements and VAT returns prepared by other team members
Liaise with management and auditors to meet deadlines and improve service quality
Attend client meetings for own portfolio and support junior staff in their meetings
Assist with business development activities, including client engagement and writing articles
Support performance appraisals, training needs identification, and compliance monitoring
Ensure tasks within both your portfolio and the team’s portfolio are completed in line with statutory requirements and deadlines
Report regularly to management on client and team matters
Liaise with internal departments to obtain information required for financial reporting and statutory submissions
Highlight and escalate significant accounting issues to management
Requirements
2+ years senior-level experience in a client accounting environment in Malta
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or relevant field
Fluency in English, both written and spoken
Strong knowledge of client accounting and VAT
Excellent MS 365 skills (Excel, Outlook, Word) and SAGE
Responsible and ethical when handling sensitive financial information
Ability to work independently and within a team
Strong problem-solving skills
Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and multitask
Self-starter with strong attention to detail
