About the role

Responsibilities
- Software development and client support: You are responsible for the ULBC software repository and will collaborate closely with industry partners and research collaborators to develop a joint candidate for 3GPP standardization.
- Programming languages: You will use your knowledge of C and Python to develop software solutions, perform ML deployments, and integrate and test system modules for voice services.
- Use of innovative coding techniques: You will work on integrating coding algorithms for speech signals at 1–3 kbps to enable telephony over GEO/LEO satellites.
- Standardization objectives: You will contribute to project activities aimed at 3GPP standardization to maximize the technology’s potential and improve its performance.
Requirements
- A completed academic university degree, ideally with a focus in Computer Science, Communications Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience developing software applications in C and Python.
- Practical experience with GitLab, Continuous Integration (CI), and Docker, and a confident command of Linux environments.
- Strong communication skills in German and English.
- Ideally, experience in audio and signal processing.
- Knowledge of ML frameworks such as ONNX Runtime and PyTorch is desirable.
