About the role
- Cabling Technician Team Lead overseeing installation activities for structured cabling projects supporting DoD and federal customers. Leading a team and providing mentorship in technical leadership and quality assurance.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of junior and mid level technicians installing copper and fiber optic cabling systems
- Coordinate daily work activities, assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to project schedules
- Provide technical guidance on installation, termination, testing, troubleshooting, and industry best practices
- Interpret engineering drawings, design packages, and customer requirements, ensuring accurate team execution
- Perform QA/QC checks of all installation work, including terminations, labeling, pathway construction, and test results
- Conduct site surveys and support planning of materials, manpower, and equipment requirements
- Train and mentor technicians on safety practices, installation standards, and professional development (including BICSI certification readiness)
- Serve as the primary on site point of contact for project managers, leads, and customer representatives
- Ensure compliance with BICSI, TIA, NEC, DoD UFC, and related telecommunications standards
- Maintain accurate documentation, redlines, and as built information for project turnover
Requirements
- 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
- Must have an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI
- 7+ years of structured cabling installation experience
- BICSI Technician (TECH) certification or equivalent advanced industry credential
- Demonstrated leadership experience supervising installation teams
- Proficiency in copper and fiber termination, testing, and troubleshooting
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and project specifications
- Strong communication, organization, and customer engagement skills
