About the role
- Senior Tooling Engineer overseeing tool & die processes for a leading automotive components manufacturer. Responsible for quality, safety, and throughput for all three shifts in the die process.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate Launch activities (design reviews, buyoff activities at die shops and home line)
- Ensuring all new tooling meets safety and throughput goals
- Responsible for Engineering Change activities (quoting, outsourcing, design reviews, buyoffs and run offs at home line, keep tracker of engineering change activities)
- Continuous improvement leader for material saving, throughput activities, process improvements, quality improvements and other improvement plans
- Work closely with Quality department and customers to improve build issues and quality scores
- Trains tool & die with specific procedures (spotting, machining and engineering change procedures)
- Reviews departmental KPI’s and determines improvement objectives
- Document and assess repairs made to improvement and engineering projects
- Ensure adherence to safety rules and PPE
- Participation in the Layered Process Audit schedule
- Participation in the Internal ISO 9001/IATF 16949 Audit schedule (applies only to certified ISO 9001/IATF 16949 internal auditors)
- Participation and cooperation in answering questions and providing information for internal and external audits regarding or related to ISO 9001/IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, and customer standards
Requirements
- 8+ years automotive tooling experience preferred
- 10+ years in tool & die, with a journeyman card required
