About the role
- Senior Staff Systems Engineer delivering end-to-end IVI solutions for Ford's electric vehicle future. Collaborating with agile teams to design and execute automotive software integrations.
Responsibilities
- Design, integrate, and test IVI platform features like STR, LPM, storage, logging, etc.
- Design and develop interfaces that span within and across IVI software.
- Test, debug, and tweak code when necessary to make the features work E2E.
- Develop requirements and engage with relevant stakeholders for execution.
- Serve as an IVI generalist that can act as a liaison to internal and external customers.
- Define KPIs and telemetry to track feature adoption and failure modes in the field.
- Debug and root-cause complex issues spanning software and hardware, driving timely fixes back to development.
- Contribute to roadmap and strategic planning for future vehicle programs including feature improvements, code refactoring, test strategy, etc.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- 8+ years of experience in vehicle software integration and testing.
- Experience integrating and testing end to end automotive software.
- Proven ability to deliver production quality IVI software features in a SDV architecture.
- Experience designing and developing requirements and interfaces.
- A strong grasp of software integration and testing methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with infotainment systems, embedded software validation, or automotive-grade platforms (Android, QNX, Linux).
- Hands-on experience with automotive grade real-time ECUs.
- Experience with CAN, LIN, ETH interfaces.
- A track record of successfully debugging complex software and system problems.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a sharp eye for detail.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing or testing directly on physical automotive hardware or vehicles.
- Experience testing on prototype and development vehicles or Labcars
- Experience working with specific infotainment operating systems (like Android Automotive, Linux)
- Strong understanding of vehicle networks and debugging tools (CAN, PCAN, Vector, Wireshark).
- Experience with performance testing concepts and automating performance checks.
