About the role

• Manager of Protection and Controls Engineering overseeing engineering and design of protective relays. Leading team efforts to ensure projects meet regulatory and budgetary goals in Massachusetts

Responsibilities

• Manages the work activities of personnel assigned to the EMA Protection & Controls Engineering section
• Ensures projects undertaken are in accordance with Transmission and Distribution Engineering and Eversource goals and objectives
• Develops employees through the use of performance management, coaching, and, as appropriate, rotational assignments
• Manage the planning and execution of transmission and distribution projects involving system protection, controls, SCADA and disturbance monitoring equipment
• Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget
• Ensure designs and settings are in compliance with regulatory (e.g., NPCC, ISO-NE), and Eversource standards
• Support P&C system reliability improvement efforts by ensuring identified corrective actions are taken and support proper reporting internally and externally
• Manages the writing of the protection system contributions to engineering descriptions and substation operating instructions
• Manage Department expense and capital budgets
• Manage outside engineering vendor resources needed to achieve the T&D capital plan

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• Minimum of ten (10) years related experience with P&C engineering
• At least three years of experience in management or leadership capacity preferred
• Strong knowledge of protective relaying
• Detailed knowledge of transmission and distribution power systems engineering and operation
• Supervisory and business planning skills
• Working knowledge of information technology and the use of Eversource office automation and information systems
• Strong knowledge of ASPEN Short Circuit Modeling Programs is preferred
• Familiarity with Doble PowerBase Database tools is a plus
• PE License preferred
