Manager of Protection and Controls Engineering overseeing engineering and design of protective relays. Leading team efforts to ensure projects meet regulatory and budgetary goals in Massachusetts
Responsibilities
Manages the work activities of personnel assigned to the EMA Protection & Controls Engineering section
Ensures projects undertaken are in accordance with Transmission and Distribution Engineering and Eversource goals and objectives
Develops employees through the use of performance management, coaching, and, as appropriate, rotational assignments
Manage the planning and execution of transmission and distribution projects involving system protection, controls, SCADA and disturbance monitoring equipment
Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget
Ensure designs and settings are in compliance with regulatory (e.g., NPCC, ISO-NE), and Eversource standards
Support P&C system reliability improvement efforts by ensuring identified corrective actions are taken and support proper reporting internally and externally
Manages the writing of the protection system contributions to engineering descriptions and substation operating instructions
Manage Department expense and capital budgets
Manage outside engineering vendor resources needed to achieve the T&D capital plan
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Minimum of ten (10) years related experience with P&C engineering
At least three years of experience in management or leadership capacity preferred
Strong knowledge of protective relaying
Detailed knowledge of transmission and distribution power systems engineering and operation
Supervisory and business planning skills
Working knowledge of information technology and the use of Eversource office automation and information systems
Strong knowledge of ASPEN Short Circuit Modeling Programs is preferred
Familiarity with Doble PowerBase Database tools is a plus
PE License preferred
