About the role
- Senior Accountant at ESB overseeing financial processes to support Ireland’s transition to net zero carbon future. Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure efficient, compliant accounting practices.
Responsibilities
- Period close, consolidation and reconciliation activities at Group and Business Unit level
- Co-ordination of the annual statutory audit process, engagement with external auditors and delivery of outputs to key internal and external stakeholders as required
- Delivery of continuous improvement initiatives and various projects within the Accounting & Reporting function
- Monitoring accounting (International Financial Reporting Standards) (IFRS), technical and commercial developments and advising on their impact on the financial close of the Group
- Responsibility for overseeing and reviewing accounting and reporting processes, including ensuring that relevant record to report controls are operating effectively
- Overseeing the work of accountants on the team
- Address ad hoc queries and decision support requests
Requirements
- A professional accountancy qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) or equivalent with at least 2 years post qualification experience
- High level of accounting competency and strong analytical skills
- Highly motivated – able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong IT skills
- Strong understanding of financial systems and processes
