About the role

  • Law student role assisting in insurance defence litigation for a leading financial group. Gaining hands-on experience in legal research and case management within a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Independently carry a case load of litigation files, from start to finish, involving the defence of auto claims, accident benefits, bodily injury, commercial lines, property, subrogation, and coverage work.
  • Support our insurance defence litigators through hands‑on legal research, drafting key documents, preparing memoranda, and shadowing real litigation proceedings.
  • Providing general support across the legal team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in law.
  • Currently enrolled in accredited program to obtain a law degree (LL.B. or J.D.) from a Canadian University
  • A minimum of one year of relevant experience
  • Advanced proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients
  • Intermediate knowledge in legal research and computer literacy, including use of web-based services
  • Intermediate knowledge in civil litigation and advocacy
  • Intermediate knowledge in insurance law
