About the role
- Mechanical Design Engineer responsible for entire design lifecycle of groundbreaking robotics solutions. Collaborating directly with the CTO in a fast-paced startup environment.
Responsibilities
- Design complex mechanisms (chain units, moving parts, grippers, lifting systems) — from concept to series production
- Create detailed CAD models and manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks
- Select materials, processes and joining solutions appropriate to the application
- Perform design trade-offs and validate them through prototyping
- Apply Design-for-Manufacture (DFM) principles and work with suppliers on sheet-metal fabrication and CNC machining
- Coordinate cross-functionally (electrical, systems engineering, quality) for seamless integration
- Optimize existing mechanisms for cost, performance and manufacturability
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical design for industrial applications
- Expert knowledge of SolidWorks (or equivalent CAD tool), including detailed manufacturing drawings with correct dimensioning
- Proven experience in hardware product development from concept to production — you must be able to demonstrate what you've built during the application process
- Deep materials knowledge — metals, alloys, plastics, surface treatments, lubrication
- Startup mentality — flexible, autonomous, and take ownership without waiting for instructions
- Strong 3D spatial reasoning — you visualize how parts move and fit together
- Fluent German — you will work regularly with German suppliers
- Fluent English — for internal communication and documentation
- Right to work in the EU
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
