Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver technology solutions addressing bp’s priority drilling and wells challenges
- Serve as a technical contributor across drilling and well construction, supporting solution design, qualification, and field deployment
- Lead end‑to‑end technology and engineering projects, working with suppliers and partners to accelerate development and trial programs
- Engage partners across Wells, Subsurface, Operations, and central technology teams to ensure alignment and adoption
- Apply sound engineering judgment to prioritise work and manage technical trade‑offs
- Deliver work with pace, rigour, and clarity, upholding high standards of safety, quality, and technical assurance
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (petroleum, mechanical, chemical, or related discipline)
- Strong drilling engineering background, including well planning and execution
- Proven ability to manage complex technical projects in fast‑paced or ambiguous environments
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical topics clearly
- Demonstrated critical thinking, problem‑solving ability, and focus on business value
- Collaborative mindset and experience working across teams and disciplines
- Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) and advanced well control
- Downhole tools and BHA design (RSS, motors, MWD/LWD, specialty tools)
- Drilling performance optimisation and NPT reduction
- Well construction engineering (casing design, hydraulics, torque & drag, cementing)
- Real‑time operations, surveillance, and data‑driven decision‑making
- Experience across onshore/offshore environments including deepwater, shelf, HPHT, unconventional, or remote operations
