Responsibilities
support the Engineering and Design business unit, working on multidisciplinary project teams to provide electrical engineering and related technical expertise for industrial processing, power, mining, and fuels facilities
integrating process, mechanical, and control requirements into comprehensive electrical systems
detailed design to support electrical installations in the power, mining, and hydroelectric sectors
Technical knowledge: cost estimation, preparation of specifications, wiring and schematic diagrams, and bill-of-material development
design and analysis, including the preparation of plans and specifications, report development, cost estimating, and the design of power and controls from the ground up
proposal development including defining work scopes, deliverables, schedules, and budget
Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing projects
Help ensure project milestones are met and provide regular updates to team members and clients
support the growth and development of team members
build and sustain strong relationships with clients and internal teams
Collaborate across disciplines to align technical approaches with client goals while contributing to a positive, inclusive team culture
Requirements
bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
5 years of relevant experience related to the job responsibilities described above
Working knowledge of codes, standards, laws, and regulations applicable to the project assignments described above
Professional Engineer (PE) certification or ability to obtain within one year
experience with AutoCAD and basic Microsoft Office software, especially Excel and Word
possession of a current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future
10+ years of experience at a consulting engineering or industrial company (not required)
Knowledge of and experience with industrial manufacturing processes such as power plants, petroleum refining, mining, minerals processing, or chemical production (not required)
Background and skills related to PLC and HMI programming and commissioning (not required)
Knowledge and experience related to piping and instrumentation diagrams (not required)
Experience related to electrical installations in hazardous areas (not required)
