About the role

  • Electrical Engineer providing technical expertise for industrial projects in the power, mining, and fuels sectors. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on project planning and execution.

Responsibilities

  • support the Engineering and Design business unit, working on multidisciplinary project teams to provide electrical engineering and related technical expertise for industrial processing, power, mining, and fuels facilities
  • integrating process, mechanical, and control requirements into comprehensive electrical systems
  • detailed design to support electrical installations in the power, mining, and hydroelectric sectors
  • Technical knowledge: cost estimation, preparation of specifications, wiring and schematic diagrams, and bill-of-material development
  • design and analysis, including the preparation of plans and specifications, report development, cost estimating, and the design of power and controls from the ground up
  • proposal development including defining work scopes, deliverables, schedules, and budget
  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing projects
  • Help ensure project milestones are met and provide regular updates to team members and clients
  • support the growth and development of team members
  • build and sustain strong relationships with clients and internal teams
  • Collaborate across disciplines to align technical approaches with client goals while contributing to a positive, inclusive team culture

Requirements

  • bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
  • 5 years of relevant experience related to the job responsibilities described above
  • Working knowledge of codes, standards, laws, and regulations applicable to the project assignments described above
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification or ability to obtain within one year
  • experience with AutoCAD and basic Microsoft Office software, especially Excel and Word
  • possession of a current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future
  • 10+ years of experience at a consulting engineering or industrial company (not required)
  • Knowledge of and experience with industrial manufacturing processes such as power plants, petroleum refining, mining, minerals processing, or chemical production (not required)
  • Background and skills related to PLC and HMI programming and commissioning (not required)
  • Knowledge and experience related to piping and instrumentation diagrams (not required)
  • Experience related to electrical installations in hazardous areas (not required)
