RF Systems Engineer maintaining SCOF ground segment equipment with field support and technical advice. Responsible for ensuring system integrity and liaising with maintenance and suppliers for upgrades.
Responsibilities
Provide Field Engineering service and on-call support (Third Line) in the investigation of SCOF system faults or performance failures.
This may involve technical liaison with equipment suppliers and Fourth Line support organisations
Maintaining up to date drawings of the SCOF installation and configuration, in accordance with the configuration control process;
Reflecting changes to the SCC computer hardware configuration, which have been notified by Management of SCC Software
Liaison with maintenance staff on all maintenance issues relating to the SCOF ground segment equipment, to identify potential problems such as recurring faults or indications of wear-out
Identify opportunities for upgrade and enhancements to the system and develop engineering plans for the implement of such enhancements or upgrades in conjunction with the System Design Authority
Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the ranging system
Provide specialist technical advice to the SCOF System Engineer
Requirements
Must have or be able to obtain UK Eyes Only SC/DV Security Clearance via the UK Intelligence Community (UKIC) process
MUST be willing/able to acquire UK Developed Vetting (DV)
In depth knowledge and expertise of telecommunications, data networks, RF transmission and satcoms systems
At least 5 years’ experience in a Field Support Engineering role supporting mission or business critical communications systems.
Understanding of work practices and procedures associated with secure systems, cryptographic systems and TEMPEST principles.
