About the role
- Financial Management Analyst overseeing financial operations for Alumni Engagement and Development. Guiding Staff Accountants and managing complex financial transactions and budget processes.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the direct supervisor for the Staff Accountants
- Oversee financial operations across ~25+ cost centers and 100+ cardholders
- Ensure compliance with Duke University Financial Services policies
- Provide strategic oversight and serve as a key decision-maker in resolving complex financial transactions
- Assist with budget preparation, reporting and variance analysis
- Review and approve a wide range of financial documents
- Lead the monthly and year-end financial close processes
- Supervise direct reports in accordance with Duke’s human resource policies
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field
- CPA is desirable
- 3 years experience in financial management, cost accounting or a field directly related to specialized area of assignment
- Experience in leading and guiding staff accountants
- proficiency in financial systems including Concur, Buy@Duke, and SAP
