About the role
- Produce user manuals and online help for scientific instruments and software. Collaborate with experts and manage translations at Thermo Fisher Scientific.
Responsibilities
- Develop user manuals, online help, and service documentation for instruments and their software in Technical English using FrameMaker and/or a content management system (e.g., Schema ST4, SDL Tridion Docs)
- Acquire, evaluate, and incorporate information from subject-matter experts
- Put legal requirements into effect in accordance with prevailing standards and norms
- Implement internal corporate design guidelines
- Create and edit graphics, photos, and videos
- Collaborate independently on multiple projects
- Pre- and post-process translations of manuals
- Adapt to changing working methods and learn to use AI tools
Requirements
- Completed education as a Technical Writer or alternatively a bachelor degree of natural science (e.g., Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Linguistics)
- Master's degree is an advantage
- At least 2 years of professional experience as a Technical Writer
- Knowledge of creating texts in Technical English
- Experience in FrameMaker
- Preferably experience in a Content Management System (e.g., Schema ST4, SDL Tridion Docs)
- Knowledge of common standards and guidelines for the creation of technical documentation
- Knowledge of MS Office products (Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Experience with image editing programs (Corel PaintShop Pro, Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator, SnagIt)
- Experience with video creation programs
- High linguistic and interpersonal skills (English and, if possible, German)
- Persistence, resilience, and flexibility
- Willingness to learn changing working methods and use of AI tools
- Experience with pre- and post-processing of translations
