Supervise Volkswagen's SSA Commercial operations from Sandton, focusing on strategy and stakeholder collaboration. Drive market-Specific product strategies and lead cross-functional project initiatives.
Responsibilities
Based in Sandton for the Volkswagen Sub Sahara Africa (SSA) Division, to oversee and steer the SSA Commercial business together with the head of Sub Sahara Operations and work with major stakeholders on the distribution and local production strategy to optimise competitive advantage and growth in the region.
Collaborate with the SSA Department to develop comprehensive product strategies tailored to each market within the region.
This includes defining product rationale, range, specifications, positioning, pricing, volume targets, and model mix.
Establish and implement a price indexing methodology to support a competitive and sustainable regional pricing strategy.
Engage early with VW NFZ on model feasibility for SSA and support market research to align product strategies with customer needs and growth opportunities.
Identify market-specific conversion partners, develop a volume-driven distribution strategy that reduces complexity, and coordinate technical releases with Engineering and Quality teams at VWSA.
Ensure accurate order templates, coordinate export processes using Group systems, manage product bulletins for importers/dealers, and control vehicle specifications and pricing in SAP.
Monthly co-ordination and steering with the SSA sales team to facilitate order receiving and delivery to the various markets.
Selection of Dealers/ Importers in the region combined with ongoing performance monitoring and management.
For the New Amarok Pickup: Co-ordination of the SKD/ CKD processes within VW Group SA for delivery, optimizing the respective rules and regulations by market.
Coordinate and then approve the creation of relevant point of sale material (including website specification and pricing) for the particular markets.
Provide support to ensure compliance with legal contracts.
Assist Training Academy in creating customized product/ sales training by market.
Steer/lead all Commercial Vehicles related project.
Be single contact for all Commercial Vehicles projects or ad-hoc requests.
Requirements
A formal 3-year National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree from a recognized tertiary institution, preferably with majors in Finance/ Commerce/ Business/ Marketing Management.
5 years product and planning experience in the automotive industry or similar roles with business development responsibilities
2 years’ experience in engineering, sales forecasting, market research, brand management or business management would be beneficial
Strong project management skills and experience – leading cross-functional teams
