Responsibilities
Establish architectural principles, standards, and best practices that guide design and implementation decisions across engineering teams.
Lead architecture reviews and provide design guidance for critical systems, ensuring quality, alignment across team and provide guidance on scalability, reliability, and secure coding practices
Guide teams in defining clear service boundaries, ownership, and data responsibilities aligned with business domains
Prototype and validate solutions, conducting proof-of-concepts for complex or emerging architectural challenges.
Define and advocate best practices in software design, coding standards, and engineering principles.
Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, team leads, and platform engineers to define and communicate technical strategy.
Guide API lifecycle management, from initial design through governance, testing, versioning, and deprecation.
Partner with Staff and Principal Engineers to ensure design decisions align with architectural principles, scalability goals, and security best practices
Mentor engineers and foster architectural maturity across development teams.
Stay ahead of emerging technologies, leading their assessment and adoption where relevant to business and system evolution.
Requirements
7+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years focused on architecture in service-oriented or distributed systems at scale
Strong command of software and systems design patterns with proven ability to evaluate trade-offs and guide implementation decisions
Track record of driving API ecosystem design and evolution—defining standards, contracts, and integration models that ensure scalability, discoverability, and security across services
Solid knowledge of cloud-native architectures, observability, and deployment practices
Expertise in security, scalability, and performance best practices with ability to conduct architecture reviews and provide actionable guidance
Track record of making pragmatic architectural decisions under constraints (time, resources, technical limitations)
Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, PCI DSS) and their architectural implications
Excellent communication and influencing skills—able to build consensus across engineering and product teams without formal authority
Strategic mindset balanced with pragmatic execution—can envision long-term architecture while shipping incremental improvements
