Senior to Principal Geotechnical or Geological Engineer focusing on tailings management at BGC Engineering in Brisbane. Leading projects and mentoring junior staff in a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
Act as a project engineer and technical lead for tailings projects
Train, mentor, and supervise the work of junior and intermediate staff
Manage projects, including budgeting, scheduling, staffing, and scope
Author and co-author reports
Participate in business development, including identifying new opportunities, promoting BGC’s capacity for undertaking innovative and advanced technical projects, and proposal writing
Organize and supervise field programs, including: site investigation, construction, and dam safety inspections
Work with client representatives
Help promote BGC's vision, values, and culture amongst BGC staff and clients
Travel as required, which could include extended shifts at remote sites
Requirements
Undergraduate degree in Civil or Geological Engineering
Post-graduate degree is an asset
14-20 years of relevant work experience
Registered (or eligible for registration) as an RPEQ
Experience in tailings management
Experience in tailings dam site investigation, design, or construction support
Experience working within Australia’s regulatory and geological landscape
Excellent communication skills
