About the role
- Senior Staff Engineer driving innovation in document management systems at GEICO. Leading technical strategies and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance engineering capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Focus on multiple areas in the document management domain; develop and execute technical software development strategy
- Act as the functional tech lead to for the cross-functional product development team; and be responsible and accountable for the quality, reliability and performance of the solutions
- Coordinate and collaborate with product managers, engineering team members and customers to solve complex problems, ensure the seamless integration and alignment of solutions with organizational goals
- Leverage open-source frameworks and embrace the cloud native development paradigm
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the team, and Influence and educate leadership at all levels
- Always push for engineering excellence; Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams
Requirements
- Fluency and specialization with at least two modern languages such as Java, Golang, Python or C# including object-oriented design
- Extensive knowledge and experience of building data intensive large-scale distributed systems with focus on fault-tolerance and throughput
- Experience building products of micro-services oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs
- Experience building the architecture and design of new and current systems (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling)
- Excellent communication skills, able to communicate complete technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Fluency in DevOps concepts and best practices in CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as a code
- Experience with application performance monitoring tools and performance assessments
- In-depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithms
- Experience with solving analytical problems with quantitative approaches
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment
- Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication)
