About the role

• Senior Backend Engineer at Bazaarvoice developing high-performance microservices and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring ecosystem in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, resilient, and high-performance microservices and RESTful APIs using Java and the Spring ecosystem.
• Take ownership of the entire development lifecycle, from technical design and implementation to testing, deployment, and operational support.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend engineers, product managers, and architects, to deliver robust and complete solutions.
• Lead technical design discussions and contribute to our architectural roadmap, ensuring our systems are built for scale and long-term maintainability.
• Champion best practices in software development, including code quality, testing, CI/CD, and observability.
• Analyze and optimize application performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks in our backend systems.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on building large-scale, distributed backend systems.
• Expert in Java and extensive, hands-on experience with the Spring Framework (Spring Boot).
• Knowledge of messaging queues and event-driven architecture (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka).
• Deep understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and system design.
• Proven experience designing, building, and consuming RESTful APIs and a strong understanding of microservices architecture.
• Proficient with both relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Redis) databases and understand their trade-offs.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure, particularly with services like EC2, S3, SQS, and managed database services.
• Practical experience with CI/CD principles and have worked with tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
• Experience with performance monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog).
