About the role
- Purchasing Project Specialist facilitating product development projects and vendor management at Perry Homes. Ensuring timely completion and accuracy while collaborating across departments.
Responsibilities
- Lead Product Development projects by coordinating kickoff meetings, assigning responsibilities across departments, and ensuring timely completion.
- Manage vendor and product improvements, changes, and special projects.
- Communicate with construction personnel regarding vendor and product issues; collaborate with vendors to resolve disputes and field-related problems in a timely manner.
- Review pricing for accuracy.
- Identify and evaluate new contractors and vendors in the marketplace.
- Organize, calculate, and track rebate payments and Energy Star certifications.
- Assist with additional responsibilities as needed, including:
- Annual contract and addendum updates.
- Purchasing-related changes in collaboration with Estimating.
- Field studies to verify subcontractor and vendor compliance.
- Competitive market studies.
- Preparation of memoranda on policy and material changes.
- Review of marketing materials such as Subdivision Feature Sheets and Homeowners Manuals.
- Participation in department-wide projects and general support activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Business or a Construction related field.
- Preferred 2-4 years of experience in purchasing, operations or estimating.
- Communicates effectively with vendors, internal employees, and customers (bilingual in Spanish is a plus).
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of estimating and purchasing principles as well as residential construction practices and materials.
- Must be able to read blueprints.
- Effective negotiating skills.
- Availability to travel as needed in Texas and Florida market.
- Demonstrated computer skills to include experience with Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Current, valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
