Lead Animator driving animation pipeline and leading a team for a AAA action title in Paris. Collaborating with multiple teams to ensure quality character and creature animations.
Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a team of character and creature animators across the production lifecycle
Collaborate with Art Direction, Technical Art, and Gameplay teams to maintain animation consistency
Own the animation pipeline and ensure seamless integration with Unreal Engine
Deliver high-quality animations that enhance gameplay, storytelling, and cinematic moments
Define rigging and skinning needs in partnership with Technical Animation and Engineering teams
Drive mocap direction, cleanup, and retargeting processes for in-game use
Troubleshoot animation-related issues and propose production-ready solutions
Requirements
5+ years of professional animation experience in games, with at least 1 shipped title as Lead Animator or equivalent
Strong portfolio showcasing high-quality character and gameplay animations
Expertise in Maya and Unreal Engine (control rigs, animation blueprints, root motion)
Deep understanding of timing, weight, posing, and motion dynamics
Experience working with mocap data and managing external animation vendors
Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills
