About the role
- Develop Kafka-based event streaming and integrations for MassMutual Romania. Improve uptime, support mappings, and collaborate with global teams from Bucharest/Cluj.
Responsibilities
- Implement and manage data integration services across MassMutual organization
- Create and maintain streaming services core to multiple company systems
- Manage technical debt and improve uptime of business event applications
- Support source-to-target mapping, event creation/management and downstream integrations
- Promote collaboration and coordinate cross-team design, testing and implementation
- Work independently on low to mid-complexity projects and with guidance on complex projects
- Coordinate code and data migration tasks (may require work outside normal business hours)
- Ensure non-functional requirements for application components are met
- Drive designs to align with architectural roadmap and participate in peer reviews
- Design effective, supported integrations adhering to standard patterns
- Participate in on-call rotation for production support and maintain documentation
- Report to local IT Delivery Manager and collaborate with global MassMutual teams
Requirements
- 5-7 years development experience
- Experience with Java
- Experience with Web Services / APIs
- Experience with AWS (Lambda, SQS, S3, RDS, EKS)
- Knowledge of XML / XSD and JSON
- Familiarity with Kafka (nice to have) and publish-subscribe frameworks
- SQL / Relational DB technologies (Aurora/RDS, MySQL)
- Experience with MongoDB
- Experience with GitHub and Jenkins
- Experience with Jira and Confluence
- Experience in Financial Services / Insurance is a plus
- Experience in event-driven architecture and data streaming
- Ability to work independently and participate in on-call rotation
- Willingness to work from Cluj or Bucharest office
