About the role

• Engineering Director overseeing nuclear and defence programmes at AtkinsRéalis, responsible for strategic delivery and client engagement. Leading project teams and managing multi-disciplinary projects from concept through construction.

Responsibilities

• Successfully deliver the project or programme to agreed targets
• Identify and agree project objectives and develop a strategy for achieving these
• Identify and manage any matters that could pose potential contractual/commercial risk to AtkinsRéalis
• Lead the project team – building, motivating, maintaining, coaching, guiding, and developing the team
• Facilitate communication, coordination, and information flow with the Client and within the project team
• Own the project delivery programme and delivery plans
• Protect the commercial interest of AtkinsRéalis

Requirements

• Chartered Engineer with demonstrable experience managing design and/or construction stages of projects on large infrastructure projects
• Significant multi-discipline experience with understanding of the role of the Safety Case in design
• Holds nuclear/defence sector expertise and can use this towards development of value propositions
• Understands and has experience in deploying various forms of construction contract, in particular NEC3 or 4 and/or bespoke forms of contract
• Experience of managing design projects to time, cost, and quality objectives
• Customer focused with excellent client relationship management skills
• Proactively manages client relationships at a high level and engages with multiple stakeholders
• Strong understanding of principles of assurance and compliance as defined and applied within the relevant industry environment
• Ability to manage, motivate and mentor a team and demonstrate good leadership qualities and strong emotional intelligence
