Structural Analysis Engineer II conducting structural and thermal analysis of aerospace components. Working in a hybrid role in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico for Collins Aerospace.
Responsibilities
Conduct structural and thermal analysis of individual components, functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, and specific products using FEA software and interpret these results on behalf of the design function, providing pertinent advice.
Research, plan, analyze and provide inference about mechanical products and systems in areas including, but not limited to, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, thermodynamic, or heat transfer for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy.
Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.
May evaluate and analyze various mechanical products to determine their cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
May evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate malfunctions.
Requirements
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.
2+ years experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software (ANSYS, ABAQUS or similar software) or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
BS in Mechanical Engineering
Experience in static and dynamic structural analysis, including random vibrations, shock, fracture mechanics and crack propagation, modal analysis
Experience in Siemens NX, Visio, SolidWorks software
Experience in design and analysis of heat exchangers
Desirable experience in CNC Manufacturing, Mechanical Design.
Experience interacting with Mechanical Computer Aided Design Resources (MCAD)
Project Engineering experience
Knowledge and Experience working Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Tolerance Stack up Calculation, Weight Analysis, etc.
Teamcenter (or other collaboration space) knowledge
SAP knowledge
Experience in Thermal Sciences (applied an analysis)
