QAO Technician supporting testing of commercial vehicle steering systems in a laboratory environment. Collaborating with engineers to ensure compliance with testing requirements and standards.
Responsibilities
Support component and vehicle-level testing of commercial vehicle steering column systems (electric and hydraulic)
Assemble, disassemble, mount, and prepare steering components and subassemblies for laboratory testing
Set up, operate, and monitor data acquisition and instrumentation systems during lab testing
Execute validation, quality audit, warranty, and line-return tests per engineering requirements
Collect, analyze, document, and report test results in compliance with ZF test specifications
Troubleshoot laboratory test equipment, electronic control systems, and DAQ instrumentation
Collaborate closely with Column product engineers in QAO and with global teams (Lafayette)
Maintain lab efficiency and compliance through 5S, safety, and quality/ISO standards
Some travel will be required including initial 12 week training in Lafayette, IN.
10% domestic and 2% international
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 2+ years of engineering or lab experience (5 years preferred)
Strong background in general automotive product testing and laboratory environments
Proven ability to set up and troubleshoot DAQ systems measuring pressure, flow, torque, force, vibration, and acceleration
Strong mechanical aptitude; experience with component assembly, fixtures, machining, and blueprint interpretation
Proficiency with electronic test equipment, sensors, gauges, and test control systems (PLCs preferred)
Experience troubleshooting electronic, control, and data acquisition systems
Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office, especially Excel; familiarity with CAD tools preferred
Six Sigma Green Belt and IG Welding certification preferred; ability to travel for training and testing support.
