Intermediate Electrical Designer supporting global clients to deliver mining projects in Canada with opportunities for flexible working arrangements.
Responsibilities
Provide design and technical support for the layout, design and specification of electrical systems for industrial plants and related infrastructure support for a wide variety of projects.
Complete Design and Drafting for Electrical packages including, but not limited to, cable tray layouts, lighting and grounding, power layouts, equipment lists, single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, 3D modelling.
Implement project CAD procedures and guidelines.
Design calculations which include voltage drop, lighting levels, cable tray fill and heat trace wattage.
Establish good working relationships and communicate with area leads, department managers, clients and other engineering disciplines to coordinate, ensuring the compatibility of design.
Attend site visits to collect data as required for projects.
Requirements
Graduate of an Electrical Engineering Technology program, or of a related Design / Drafting (CAD) program with relevant experience in electrical design.
Registered as an Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T.) with the applicable organization in your jurisdiction is preferred.
Minimum 4 years' experience in electrical design for mining, metallurgical or similar process industries.
Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and how to apply it in designs.
Proven expertise using AutoCAD and 3D design / drafting, preferably AutoCAD 3D and AVEVA E3D.
Everyday use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Experience with databases is beneficial, preferably AVEVA Electrical.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Team player, but also able to work independently and take responsibility.
Able to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks in a highly scheduled environment.
Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required.
Experience with lighting design/calculation software for industrial facilities is beneficial, preferably DIALux and/or AGi32.
