About the role
- VAT Accountant involved in preparing VAT returns and consolidated financial accounts. Responsibilities include analysis, reconciliation, and support for VAT initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Preparation and submission of VAT returns in the various jurisdictions, 8 th directive reclaims, 13 th directive reclaims, recapitulative statements, and Intrastat filing.
- Analysis and review of the accounting data for the needs of the VAT submissions.
- Reconciliation of VAT GL accounts including identifying and explaining variances and recommending corrective actions.
- Review of invoices from VAT perspective, identifying and communicating improvements needed.
- Support VAT Specialist in producing written materials/process notes for the tax and finance team on VAT procedures.
- Assistance with implementation and the integration of indirect tax software solutions.
- Support tax team with various VAT initiatives.
Requirements
- VAT experience, gained in either in-house or through a professional firm.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand processes and systems.
- Must possess a VAT diploma (or equivalent) with a strong understanding of or practical experience with VAT laws in EU countries.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft office applications (particularly Excel).
- Knowledge of OneSource Indirect Compliance tool would be beneficial but not necessary.
