Cyber Security Engineer enhancing cloud and enterprise security capabilities for Verisk. Collaborating across teams to innovate and improve security practices in a hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities
Develop, design, deploy, and operate security architectures and solutions for cloud and on‑premises environments—creating reference architecture patterns, leading technical assessments, identifying infrastructure and configuration risks proactively, and serving as a subject matter expert in security review processes.
Collaborate across the enterprise—partnering with IT, Cloud, Development, Legal, Cyber Threat, LCARS, and business stakeholders to perform security reviews, assess threats, resolve identified issues through cross‑functional workgroups, and align solutions with organizational policies and risk posture.
Drive automation and innovation within Security Engineering, overseeing evaluation and integration of AI‑enabled processes, maturing operational playbooks, defining processes, publishing policies, and uplifting engineering capabilities through modernized tooling and automation approaches.
Advance the organization’s cybersecurity posture through research on emerging technologies, deployment of new security controls, execution of special projects or task‑force initiatives, and continuous improvement of security technologies, processes, and service management practices.
Perform security reviews and threat assessments for new and existing systems. Identify infrastructure and configuration risks and recommend effective remediation strategies.
Completes all responsibilities as outlined in the annual Performance Plan.
Completes all special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Technology or related field.
At least 5 years of experience working as a cyber security engineer with a specific focus on cloud security and data protection initiatives.
Ability to clearly communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders throughout the organization.
Must possess strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently on multiple projects with minimal supervision and meet aggressive deadlines.
Professional certification(s) in cybersecurity and cloud technology preferred. Examples include the Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK); AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional; AWS Certified Security – Specialty; or other related certification.
