About the role

• Senior Systems Engineer (DevOps) managing Kubernetes applications, DevSecOps practices at UOL. Collaborate with development teams to ensure application reliability and performance.

Responsibilities

• Operate, support, and evolve applications running on Kubernetes clusters (EKS).
• Design, maintain, and evolve Helm charts/templates with a focus on standardization, reusability, security, and scalability.
• Implement DevSecOps practices from design through production, including:
• - Automating secure continuous deployments using GitOps (e.g., ArgoCD).
• Ensure high availability, resilience, and reliability of applications.
• Collaborate closely with development teams.
• Implement and evolve monitoring, metrics, and alerts driven by SLIs/SLOs.
• Participate in management of critical incidents, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and lead blameless post-mortems.
• Reduce operational toil through automation and continuous improvement.
• Promote DevOps, SRE, and DevSecOps culture across engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field.
• Advanced experience with Kubernetes:
• - Deployments, StatefulSets, DaemonSets
• - Services, Ingress, ConfigMaps, and Secrets
• - RBAC and Network Policies
• Strong experience with Helm for packaging and versioning applications.
• Hands-on experience evolving templates with a focus on governance and security.
• Experience with container vulnerability and security scanning tools (e.g., Trivy, Clair, or similar).
• Advanced cloud knowledge, preferably AWS.
• Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, and connectivity troubleshooting.
• Strong focus on eliminating manual tasks through automation.
• Solid experience with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
• Experience with the GitOps model (ArgoCD or similar).
• Experience with monitoring and telemetry (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, or similar).
• Advanced Linux skills, including troubleshooting, performance tuning, and resource analysis.
• Reliability- and metrics-driven management.
• Systematic reduction of toil.
• Conduct blameless post-mortems.
• Balance between delivery speed, stability, and security.
