About the role
- Lead Bridge Engineer developing concrete and steel bridge designs for local agencies and design-build clients. Overseeing projects while mentoring junior staff in TYLin’s Bridge Sector in New Jersey.
Responsibilities
- Perform design and analysis of complex concrete and steel bridge structures
- Experience with long-span bridges is an asset
- Advanced structural engineering and analysis capabilities, including ability to perform seismic analysis is a plus
- Develop designs, contract plans and specifications
- Coordinate with and direct CAD production activities for drawing production
- Conduct quality control activities for independent review and checking of structural designs
- Interface with civil engineers for development of complete project plans and specifications
- Develop engineering studies, reports and documentation
- Oversee and review calculations and designs performed by engineers
- Other assignments as needed
Requirements
- Professional Engineering License (PE) in New Jersey
- A license in New York and/or Pennsylvania will be a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in civil / structural engineering required
- Master’s degree preferred
- At least 15+ years of structural design experience in bridges and related structures
- Project management experience
- Experience delivering NJTA/NJDOT projects preferred
- Ability to perform advanced structural analysis and designs
- Experience in CSI Bridge is a plus
- Familiarity with AASHTO, NJDOT, PennDOT and NJTA design and standards preferred
- Proficient in leading technical aspects of bridge projects, writing reports, preparing drawings, specifications, and engineering calculations
