About the role
- Staff Technical Product Manager managing home security hardware portfolio for TELUS Connected Home. Assessing and evaluating control panel roadmaps while collaborating with stakeholders for product launches.
Responsibilities
- Manage our portfolio of home security hardware, focusing on control panels and devices supporting our SmartHome service
- Assess and evaluate TELUS’ current and future control panel roadmap
- Manage the end-to-end product lifecycle for the product portfolio
- Work with ODM/OEM partners to define, develop and launch products
- Define the overall strategy, product roadmap, and technical/feature specifications based on product vision, user needs, and market trends
- Serve as the subject matter expert on competitor products, vendor roadmaps, IoT, and Wi-Fi protocols
- Develop product roadmap and the in-home deployment architecture
- Conduct market research, develop product design, write requirements documentation
- Engage with stakeholders and partners for buy-in on product roadmap
- Create and present business cases that support product roadmap
- Evaluate mechanical design, RF design, CMF as part of product development process
- Lead internal and external teams for product launches and ongoing management
- Create, maintain, and share project plans and schedules for new product development
Requirements
- 10+ years experience managing technical projects through to completion
- Degree in business, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience building and driving business priorities for a product portfolio, including ROI analysis, budgeting, and cost-benefit analysis
- Experience translating market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape into product strategies and roadmaps
- Deep understanding of home automation home security, and IoT technologies
- Experience working with third-party vendors, particularly manufacturers
- Deep understanding and experience with consumer electronics development life cycles and various electronics manufacturing working models
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to bridge technical and business teams
- Excellent organizational, time management, and presentation skills
- Experience with new technology development (hardware and software) is a great-to-have
- Experience with consumer electronics or telecom industry is a great-to-have
- PMP Certification is a great-to-have
- Agile Product Management Certification is a great-to-have
- Knowledge of Jira and Confluence is a great-to-have
- Knowledge of Monday.com is a great-to-have
- Knowledge of G-suite is a great-to-have
- Spoken Mandarin is helpful when communicating with manufacturing partners
