About the role
- Lead the editorial team for the Security & Defense background project, collaborating with Handelsblatt. Focus on developing cross-media formats for an audience interested in security and defense issues.
Responsibilities
- Establish and lead the editorial team for the new Background Security & Defense in cooperation with Handelsblatt
- Develop and implement a clear editorial and strategic direction for a paid vertical in close collaboration with the editor-in-chief teams at Tagesspiegel and Handelsblatt
- Develop user-oriented, cross-media formats (text, audio, video, live) for a discerning specialist audience
- Make courageous and clear decisions in a dynamic environment
- Foster a positive, creative and team-oriented working culture
- Work closely with the editorial leadership as well as the product, sales and marketing teams
Requirements
- Several years of experience in editorial leadership of teams
- Deep knowledge of the defense industry, the political implications of the new geopolitical situation and their effects on the economy and industry
- Strong strategic skills and a digital mindset
- Confidence in handling complex topics and enthusiasm for in-depth, analytical research ("Deep Journalism")
- Willingness to pursue new approaches in journalism and to work cross-medially
