About the role
- Head of Controlling & Finance overseeing financial accounting and strategy for mid-sized German company. Involves budgeting, forecasting, and team leadership in a hybrid environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all accounting-related business activities in accordance with commercial and tax regulations, and coordinate closely with executive management, tax advisors, and auditors
- Serve as the central point of contact for all internal and external tax matters at national and international levels
- Prepare, monitor and analyze financial plans, budgets and forecasts, and derive well-founded recommendations for action
- Actively contribute to the development of corporate objectives and strategic direction
- Responsible for preparing annual financial statements and electronic tax filings (E-Bilanzen) for the entire corporate group
- Handle day-to-day operational tasks and prepare, analyze and comment on group reporting
- Coordinate business management issues related to subsidiaries and process intercompany settlements
- Provide technical, disciplinary and organizational leadership and continuously develop the accounting and controlling teams
- Independently take on and execute special business projects within the department
Requirements
- Several years of professional experience in accounting and controlling as well as in staff management
- Experience with annual financial statements under commercial and tax law, preferably also with international statements (EU and Switzerland)
- University degree or equivalent qualification (e.g., certified accountant [Bilanzbuchhalter], controller with strong accounting skills)
- Good written and spoken English skills
- Excellent MS Office skills, especially Excel, and experience with ERP systems
- Strong analytical ability and a high level of understanding of complex relationships
- Confident manner, moderation skills and enjoyment of independent, precise and structured work
