Commercial Credit Analyst assessing credit applications from customers and brokers while managing risk and ensuring compliance. Supporting Australian SMEs in the lending process with a collaborative team.
Responsibilities
Assess commercial credit applications by analysing financial statements, bank statements and other relevant data
Conduct phone interviews with applicants and brokers to gather information and negotiate loan criteria
Provide accurate, quantitative credit assessments and recommend lending limits aligned with Shift’s credit appetite
Ensure correct products and services are applied to customer applications
Maintain detailed records of key risk factors and mitigation strategies to support decision making
Build strong relationships with internal teams, customers, and brokers to enhance business performance
Adhere to credit underwriting standards, compliance policies, and ensure data integrity in core systems
Support Relationship Managers and Sales teams by providing coaching and upskilling
Identify opportunities for process and service improvements to boost team efficiency
Requirements
Previous experience holding a Delegated Lending Authority for commercial/business lending
Strong business acumen and solid understanding of the SME market
Proven track record in delivering excellent customer service
Experience assessing commercial credit using financial and bank statements; experience with non-traditional data is a plus
Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail
Experience in risk or analytics roles or working with finance products in point-of-sale environments is advantageous but not essential
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Commitment to compliance and data accuracy
