About the role
- Senior Electrical Design Engineer for Collins Aerospace developing secure voice and networking communication products. Collaborating with teams to design military applications at Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.
Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the design and development of secure Voice and Networking communication products
- Oversee and execute the development and documentation of electronics packaging designs, schematic capture, and hardware requirements.
- Develop and maintain procurement documentation, including Source Control Drawings (SCD), Interface Control Documents (ICD), and Top-Level Kit Drawings.
- Author and manage System Hardware Requirement Specifications (SHRS) to ensure compliance with program requirements.
- Plan and conduct Preliminary Engineering Review Process (PREP) reviews to ensure design integrity and alignment with program objectives.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure products meet both military and dual-use commercial application standards.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams.
- Identify and troubleshoot complex technical issues, proposing and implementing effective solutions.
Requirements
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- Minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
- Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
- U.S. citizenship is required
- Experience in electrical design and development, with a focus on communication systems or similar technologies.
- Strong proficiency in schematic capture, electronics packaging, and hardware design.
- Solid understanding of microcontroller, FPGA, and SoC/SoM architectures.
- Demonstrated experience in creating technical documentation, such as SCDs, ICDs, and hardware requirement specifications.
- Proven ability to lead and participate in technical reviews, ensuring alignment with program goals.
- Experience with military communication systems or dual-use technologies.
- Familiarity with aircraft-certified end instruments or related systems.
- Knowledge of secure voice and networking communication standards.
