About the role

• Product Assurance Engineer at Quantum Technology Laboratories enhancing QKD systems for innovative communication technologies. Involved in ensuring quality across the product lifecycle and leading assurance activities.

Responsibilities

• Support projects to deliver successful QKD systems by ensuring materials and components are fit for purpose
• Work within engineering teams to help fail‑proof designs
• Guide teams through challenges in procurement and MAIT (Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration & Test) phases
• Define and implement a tailored Product Assurance strategy for space technology maturation programs
• Lead Product Assurance activities from concept and design through testing, including participation in verification and validation activities
• Conduct audits, inspections, failure investigations, and reviews to ensure compliance with quality requirements
• Support the definition and application of quality assurance processes for hardware components
• Prepare and maintain Product Assurance documentation

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrialization Engineering or a related field
• 3–5+ years of experience in Product Assurance and/or Quality Assurance, ideally in the space or aerospace sector
• Solid knowledge of ECSS and other aerospace Product Assurance standards
• Knowledge of quality management standards, e.g., ISO 9001 or EN 9100, is a plus
• Technical background in one or more PA disciplines – RAMS, MMPP, EEE, Software
• Experience with processes and requirements and in managing quality aspects of technology demonstrator programs
• Experience auditing or qualifying suppliers in the space or other high‑reliability industries
• Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to engage with customers, suppliers, space agencies, and internal teams
• Comfortable taking on responsibility and ownership
• Fluent in English; knowledge of German is a plus.
