About the role
- Executive Lead, Finance responsible for overseeing financial operations at Playgroup NSW. Ensuring compliance, risk management, and long-term financial sustainability in a hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily AP/AR, payroll, reconciliations and transactions
- Deliver accurate monthly/annual reporting, cashflow management, budgeting, forecasting and system optimisation
- Provide financial insights and modelling to the CEO, Leadership Team and Board
- Lead long‑term financial sustainability, scenario planning and audit readiness
- Manage the Risk Register, Compliance Calendar and policy governance
- Coordinate insurance, contract and legal workflows, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Support digital platforms, data governance and cybersecurity
- Provide financial advice to program and operational teams, including modelling, budgeting and grant acquittals
- Build a capable, values‑aligned team through coaching, development and strong cultural leadership
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Commerce or similar, plus CA/CPA qualification
- Demonstrated experience leading finance operations, reporting, budgeting and compliance
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards and not‑for‑profit sector requirements
- Experience with Xero, Microsoft 365, financial modelling and grant/funding acquittals
- Strong skills in risk management, controls, and compliance frameworks
- A Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain one)
