About the role
- Senior Staff Platform Engineer designing solutions for monitoring and troubleshooting at Equinix, joining a globally distributed team on cutting-edge platform infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Drive infrastructure automation for configuration management of 2,000+ VMs and 600+ on-premises servers, ensuring consistency across distributed Equinix regions
- Collaborate with global teams (AMER, EMEA, and APAC) on security, networking, and platform standards
- Implement GitOps practices for deployments and drift management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal customers and product stakeholders to design effective and scalable solutions
- Work with technical project managers and product management teams to define and plan multiple projects
- Participate in on-call shifts with clear processes and support
Requirements
- Strong experience managing on-premises Linux-based server infrastructure at scale with configuration management tools such as Puppet, Ansible
- Strong experience with Proxmox and/or VMware
- Experience with Kubernetes
- Experience working with distributed systems
- Familiarity with observability tools like Prometheus and Grafana
- Deep proficiency in Linux systems
- Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g. QEMU, KVM, LXC, Docker)
- Experience with networking and routing is desirable
- Experience with secrets management processes and tooling, such as HashiCorp Vault
- Experience with CI/CD tooling (e.g. ArgoCD, Argo Rollouts, GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
