About the role

  • Building Automation Facilities Engineer II overseeing the Enterprise BAS systems at Medtronic. Providing technical oversight, managing projects, and facilitating system improvements in healthcare technology.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical oversight to the Enterprise Building Automation System (BAS)
  • Lead/manage milestones within BAS facility projects
  • Drive standardization of the Enterprise BAS
  • Optimize HVAC/electrical systems
  • Maintain existing BAS infrastructure
  • Facilitate continuous improvements to the BAS components, processes, and procedures
  • Interact with key customers, mechanics, and management
  • Manage financial aspects of BAS projects/initiatives
  • Provide oversight to the creation and maintenance of BAS schematics, drawings, and graphics
  • Lead/manage contractors performing installation and programming on BAS components
  • Perform installation, programming inspection, testing and repair of pneumatic, electric, electronic, and digital control equipment
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on various BAS sensors/devices
  • Lead HVAC root cause analysis, trending of data, and execute corrective actions promptly
  • Participate in long term BAS strategy and contingency planning
  • Document work performed, root cause, and resolutions in a CMMS
  • Train, delegate, and review the work of lower-level employees

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years of BAS, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and building systems experience OR advanced degree
  • Experience with BAS design, installation, commissioning, and training
  • Mechanical system knowledge (HVAC, electrical, plumbing systems)
  • Advanced Tridium/Niagara BAS Certification
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • EPA refrigeration “universal certification”
  • Experience with statistical process control
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, shop drawings, and schematics
  • Experience with integrated building solutions including temperature control, critical environment monitoring, power management and alarming, zoned lighting control and facility access control
  • Experience with automation protocols including Modbus, BACnet, and LonWorks
