About the role
- Financial Accountant managing month-end close and statutory compliance in the Finance team. Engaging with project teams and supporting P&L management.
Responsibilities
- Own the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely posting of journals, accruals, prepayments and provisions
- Prepare analysis and commentary for month end P&L results
- Maintain full ownership of the balance sheet, including preparation and review of reconciliations, and investigation and resolution of variances & aged items
- Support cash forecasting and pro-actively manage operating cash flow
- Prepare statutory accounts and support the year-end audit process, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards
- Support quarterly Internal audit process
- Undertake quarterly project reviews
- Support preparation of all tax returns (corporation tax/VAT/PSA/P11D) and submission in conjunction with advisors
- Maintain and enhance process and control documentation
- Identify control weaknesses and propose improvements and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the finance function.
- Support FP&A tasks as and when required such as budgeting/forecasting.
- Support wider Finance team as and when required.
Requirements
- Qualified Accountant with strong understanding of UK GAAP (FRS102) and IFRS principles
- Communication: Capable of presenting findings clearly to both finance and non-finance audiences, tailoring the level of detail as appropriate.
- Organisational Skills: Able to manage multiple deadlines and priorities, particularly during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting cycles.
- Problem Solving: Proactive in investigating issues and recommending solutions.
- Beneficial to have - System: Experience of Dynamics 365/FCCS
