Senior Geotechnical Engineer responsible for foundation and soils analyses for major structures and reviewing complex designs prepared by consultants. Analyze, resolve complex construction problems and ensure safety compliance.
Responsibilities
Prepares and/or reviews in-house prepared foundation and retaining wall plans as well as repair plans for failing foundations, walls, and slopes.
Prepares and reviews in-house Structure Geotechnical Reports (SGR).
Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates the SGR prepared by consultants.
Prepares and reviews very complex geotechnical designs for major structures.
Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates very complex geotechnical designs prepared by consultants.
Performs field investigations and analyses of very complex foundation problems for design or construction.
Monitors, reviews, or prepares feasibility studies of complex retaining wall systems.
Reviews and recommends approval of cofferdams and other soil retaining structures.
Prepares construction specifications and special provisions for geotechnical designs.
Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules.
Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Illinois.
Four years of experience in civil engineering.
Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with coworkers.
Knowledge of foundation and geotechnical engineering.
Working knowledge of engineering software.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Requires a valid driver’s license.
Requires occasional statewide travel which may include overnight stays.
Requires successful completion of a background screening.
