Installation & Commissioning Engineer working on smart metering systems for modern heat networks. Focus on installation, troubleshooting, and client training in a field-based role.
Responsibilities
Deploy Insite IT and PAYG smart metering systems on new build and residential sites.
Configure and maintain AMR (Automatic Meter Reading) systems including dataloggers, gateways, routers, repeaters, and IP power devices.
Retrofit and rewire existing Credit & PrePayment systems for optimal performance.
Diagnose and resolve technical issues with smart metering and RF networks.
Carry out scheduled maintenance and respond to callouts.
Work closely with third parties, including ISPs, BT, and cloud service providers, to ensure smooth system operation.
Provide expert technical advice to internal teams and clients.
Deliver hands-on training to ensure confident, compliant system use and upkeep.
Requirements
Previous experience with smart metering systems, RF networks, or similar field-based technologies is preferred.
18th Edition, wiring regs and Part P (ideal but not essential)
Confident in working independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong problem-solving abilities.
Competent in the use of laptops/tablets for system configurations and reporting (training provided).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective client and team interactions.
A valid, clear UK driving licence.
Basic DBS clearance (Disclosure and Barring Service).
Must be eligible to work in the UK.
Hold a valid CSCS card (or be able to obtain one).
