About the role
- Technical Deputy Program Manager overseeing IT infrastructure operations for the Census Bureau. Partnering with Program Manager for large-scale data center contract delivery and modernization efforts.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily technical operations across on-premises data centers and hybrid cloud environments.
- Work with the customers to shape requirements and develop roadmaps and plans.
- Act as the primary bridge between the program office and the technical leads (e.g., Operations and Engineering) to ensure project plans and schedules are met.
- Proactively identify and resolve systemic bottlenecks across the program whether they are technical, procedural, or resource-based to improve operations
- Manage optimized staffing levels across multiple shifts to ensure high-priority engineering projects do not compromise the stability of baseline operations.
- Spearhead a comprehensive review of the program’s Knowledge Base, replacing outdated documentation with "living" wikis and version-controlled scripts that ensure consistency across all shifts and locations.
Requirements
- · Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field
- · 8+ years in IT Infrastructure, with at least 3 years in a leadership/management capacity for large-scale data center/cloud contracts (~$50M+ in value)
- · Ability to manage difficult / highly demanding customers by setting realistic expectations and translating technical setbacks into business-risk assessments
- · Proven Experience breaking down "silos" between operations and engineering teams to achieve project outcomes.
- · Ability to perform "Root Cause Analysis" on the program’s processes, finding where technical debt or resources are slowing down program/service delivery.
