Platform Engineer handling Azure cloud platform responsibilities for Hiscox, a global specialist insurer. Involving design, deployment, maintenance, and optimization of cloud infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Create, deliver, maintain and support components of the UK cloud platforms.
Ensure they meet technical standards, remain securely configured and capture appropriate metrics.
Make significant contributions to UK infrastructure as code and CICD pipeline repositories.
Contribute to our technical standards, solutions and design documentation.
Discover and remove technical debt as part of a continuous improvement work ethic.
Work with the Platform Lead to contribute to the roadmap of the UK cloud platforms.
Continually question and optimise the governance processes ensuring that deployed services meet quality and security benchmarks.
Monitor market trends and best practices relating to DevOps, CI/CD and use of cloud services.
Offer direction and expertise to the wider UK IT community.
Requirements
Demonstrable in-depth technical knowledge of the Azure cloud platform.
Experience with compute, storage and network services is essential.
Knowledge of the below Azure services is beneficial: API Management, App Service, Entra ID, App Gateway / Front Door, Messaging Services (Event Hub / Service Bus), AI services.
Proficient in designing, deploying and maintaining Azure infrastructure using version-controlled infrastructure as code deployments.
Terraform experience would be beneficial.
Expertise in writing and troubleshooting CICD pipelines defined in source control.
Knowledge of Azure DevOps would be beneficial.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to efficiently manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Collaborative team player, keen to learn and share ideas.
Able to drive the DevSecOps principles and culture across the wider IT team.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to automate and streamline deployment scaling of cloud workloads.
Experience with one or more of the following would be a benefit: Auth0, Ansible, PowerShell, Databricks.
