About the role
- Lead Engineer designing cost-effective HVDC installation solutions and conducting power system studies. Collaborating on engineering tools and processes to improve project deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Interpret the customer’s technical enquiry and design cost-effective solutions for HVDC installations
- Perform insulation coordination studies and power system simulations
- Conduct network studies and create reliability models
- Participate in development and industrialization of engineering solutions tools and processes
- Review and improve design processes while ensuring engineering discipline
- Mentor other engineers to enhance technical knowledge
- Actively observe work conditions and provide feedback on safety
Requirements
- Educated with an Engineering degree (or equivalent) including power systems and power electronics subjects (minimum 2:1)
- Proven professional experience and technical expertise in the field of power system engineering
- Knowledge of system tools like PSCAD, PSS/E, DigSilent, RTDS and MATLAB
- Insulation coordination and main equipment characteristics for HVDC
- Expertise in computer mathematical and simulation tools as applied to design activities
- General understanding of the characteristics of HVDC Valves and their control systems
- Good technical communication skills
