About the role

  • Counsel for energy project development at Generate Capital. Serving as legal partner across diverse energy projects from inception through construction.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary legal counsel to Generate’s development teams on energy projects from inception through construction
  • Negotiate and draft a broad range of development agreements, including EPC contracts, procurement agreements, offtake agreements, and interconnection agreements
  • Provide counsel and manage regulatory compliance matters, including regulatory filings, submissions, and ongoing compliance across multiple jurisdictions
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to facilitate timely project execution and resolve issues as they arise
  • Support day-to-day legal needs across Generate’s project portfolio
  • Adapt quickly to new asset types and legal contexts

Requirements

  • JD from an accredited law school and active bar membership; approximately 4 – 8 years of legal experience
  • Experience with energy project development, EPC agreements, procurement contracts, and offtake agreements is highly valued
  • Familiarity with permitting, interconnection, and energy regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions
  • Behind-the-meter power project experience is a plus; digital infrastructure is nice-to-have but not required
  • Strong attention to detail, sound drafting instincts, and good interpersonal skills across development, engineering, finance, and operations teams
  • Collaborative, with strong judgment under ambiguity
