Lead Materials Application Engineer focused on aerospace materials development and processes at GE Aerospace. Collaborating with teams and enhancing materials technologies for innovative aerospace applications.
Responsibilities
Conceptual, or theoretical activities relating to the development, improvement, and usage of materials, coatings, and processes undertaken to build, apply, or shape the materials.
Developing conceptual knowledge of professional discipline.
May include support roles with specialized expertise or technical knowledge in broad area.
Applies general knowledge of business developed through education or experience.
Understands how work of own team contributes to the area.
Resolves issues using established procedures.
Consults supervisor or more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
Collaborates with others to solve issues.
For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE Aerospace.
Exchanges technical information asks questions and checks for understanding.
Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical & Materials Science Engineering
At least 5 years of experience
Good level of understanding on metallic materials, their physical and mechanical properties and processing.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and orally in English.
Proven self-starter and independent worker who can work with cross-functional teams
Fast in action but with detailed technical review and good documentation
Project Management Skills related to material technologies
Strong teamwork and communication skills, eager to learn continuously.
Master of Science and/or PhD in Materials Science Engineering is preferred
Awareness and/or experience in aerospace industry is preferred.
Experience on a Titanium alloys is a plus.
Experience on forging processes.
Titanium forging process knowledge is a plus.
Ability to coordinate several tasks/projects simultaneously, strategically prioritize work.
A self-starter with an eye on problem solving and driving solutions
Awareness and knowledge of manufacturing processes such as thermal spray, shot peen, heat treatment etc. and their potential effects on material.
