About the role
- Associate General Counsel providing legal advice and guidance for complex legal issues in a financial services company. Ensuring compliance and managing risks across multiple jurisdictions.
Responsibilities
- Provides legal advice and guidance of a broad, complex network of federal, state, and local laws
- Partners closely with departments within the Company to outline legal requirements
- Performs legal research and analysis, interprets laws and recommends related courses of action
- Advises business clients as to legal risk of current and new business initiatives
- Assists the Company in product enhancement and development and digital initiatives
- Reviews Company communications, privacy practices, and marketing materials for compliance with law
- Acts as liaison to the Compliance Department and applicable federal and state regulatory agencies
- Engages and manages outside counsel resources
- Reviews and negotiates contractual arrangements
- Performs additional duties as needed to support operations and expansion
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience practicing law
- Experience in financial services matters
- J.D. required; Texas admission preferred
